This is the how we met page, I have not told one person this story without them going. AWWWWWWW! This is one of those true to life love conquers all stories you hear about on TV lol. I was 24 years old divorced and on my own with my daughter. I used my computer at home to help raise money for Native American charities and nothing more until on day my Uncle Harry got in touch and told me he finished our family tree and gave me the web address. As I studied it I found we still had living relatives in the  South of Ireland, So I decided to use yahoo to start asking questions of the locals of County Cork. One day I started talking to this guy and he was really funny and sweet, everyday we talked but we were just friends. One day he says to me that he is going over to America to meet this girl. I was surprised to find I was devastated by the thought of there being someone else. So I stopped talking to him over the internet , I told him since he was seeing someone I didn't think it fair to her that we should be talking. He said ok and that was the end of it. I didn't hear from him again or so at least I thought. It was two months later and I missed talking to this silly Irish bloke but I didn't go looking for him. One night someone by the screen name Shamrocky started to chat to me and the way we fell into a familiar comfortable patter I started to feel like I KNEW this person from somewhere. So I asked him if I knew him and there was a long long pause and he said I can't tell you because you will get mad. After assuring him for 20 minutes I would not he told me who he was. He said that he signed on under a different name so he could talk to me! I was astounded  no one had ever done anything so sweet for me before! So we started talking and he said he had met this other girl via the web, that they had never met and was not in love with her. And then came the biggest shock, he said he still had his plane ticket and he wanted to come meet me! I knew at that minute I was in love. I had my inklings when I had his picture up on the computer one day and my daughter came in she was 2 at the time pointed to the screen and said "daddy jars" ( she was told his name was Gerard but couldn't quite manage it and was never told to call him daddy anything) lol. I said yes to his flying over  immediately. He surprised me even further when he said great because I think I love you. This wasn't the weird stalker type of guy, I could tell that from the start. He was an extremely shy kind of guy that was sincere in all he said when it came to the heart. We talked a lot on the computer and on the phone. It was not long before I asked him to marry me. He said yes and made me the happiest woman alive. Soon it was August and was time for him to fly over, I was so excited I was sick! This poor boy had to take a plane to Atlanta Georgia then take a 48 hour bus trip just to get to me! I tried to keep in touch with him on his journey but there was a lot of confusion, finally I went to pick him up at one of the depots. He was not expecting me and as soon as I saw him my heart leapt. I ran and gave him a hug and it felt like I had always been there with him and no one else. My daughter took to him instantly, he would play games with her for hours and she loved every minute they were together. We explored Pennsylvania while he was there and when the two weeks was over and it was time for him to go home he told me he wanted to stay. He took my breath away and of course I wasn't going to say no! He stayed with me for the three months that his visa allowed and I was heart broken when he finally had to leave. I cried so hard as he was leaving I thought I would die. He was supposed to be coming back to me on a ticket we bought in two weeks but I felt like if he got on that plane I would never see him again. He made it home safely and I can't remember what called the issue to sight but we found out he could not use the ticket we bought because it was one way. I felt like my fears were coming true. At one o clock in the morning Gerard went and woke his father telling him what our problem was. His father told him not to worry they would sort it. The next day his father went out and bought Gerard a round trip ticket for which I will be forever grateful. Gerard flew back over to America, this time into a local airport where I went to meet him. I waited and waited at departures and no sign of Gerard, I started to fear he changed his mind and didn't want to be with me after all. My friend who came with me told me to call the desk and see if he was on the manifest and sure enough he was aboard! The bad news was immigration was detaining him. When I called they told me how lucky I was because they were about to put him on a flight back to Ireland. I begged them not to. They explained they found a credit card that  didn't belong to him (I  gave him the card) and a bag with welders goggles that belonged to my ex husband! I explained everything and told them we were flying back to  Ireland in 3 months to get married and that if they released him that I would take full responsibility. They agreed grudgingly and he came home with me. I never felt so lucky in all my life. Because I knew from that minute I could not live without him. After the three months I sold my furniture and rounded up my savings and headed to Ireland. We were married with a small ceremony in the Ballycastle registry office. Later that year I became pregnant with our second daughter Caitlin. Here we are 6 years later and we are still in love though we were told it would never work. We suffered some bad luck and some hard times and we have had our struggles in marriage but we are still here .......together.
